Product Review: Beets Blu Heart Rate Monitor and PagerTag

December 6, 2015 By Erin DIshes

Time’s a ticking – Christmas is almost here! Have you finished your shopping yet? Or should I say, have you started your shopping yet?

Gift giving can be tough but guess what? I may be able to help you. A few weeks ago I was contacted by a representative from a company called Beets Blu. They wanted to know if I’d be interested in writing a review for their heart rate monitor. Hmm, let me think about it – heck yeah!

Okay, so I must admit something – I’m one of those crazy people who gets up before dawn to exercise. Yup, that’s me running out there when it’s dark and cold or trying to beat the heat. Sure it’s early, but it gets me going and it’s just become part of my day. But believe or not I’ve never used a heart rate monitor before. I know – surprising right? So I was super excited to try this one out.

monitor

So far I’ve used the heart rate monitor not only during my morning runs but also during my weight training workouts. I especially like that it measures your hear rate with a strap around your chest which can be more accurate than the other monitors that use your wrist. With that being said, I was afraid the strap wouldn’t be comfortable or it would be cumbersome. Not at all. The strap is adjustable and you can’t tell that it’s on under your clothing.

I have to say this monitor is very easy to use. This device uses bluetooth (compatible with Apple and Android) and I was quickly able to link it to the fitness app I use to keep track of my workouts. And that strap – it’s washable! The monitor snaps off the strap and it’s ready to head to the washer. But you know what the best thing is – it costs a lot less than a lot of those other monitors. Oh yeah.

Bottom line – I really like the Beets Blu Heart Rate Monitor and would definitely recommend it!

So why monitor your heart rate anyway? Well, if you’re working out don’t you want to know if your working out hard enough or not enough? Measuring your heart rate is a good way to gauge the effectiveness of your workout. Knowing your target heart rate is important, if your heart rate is too high, you could be overdoing it, too low and you may want to push yourself a little more. I think we all know that exercise is an important factor when trying to lose weight but it’s also important for heart health. The heart is a muscle and it becomes stronger as you exercise it. So it’s probably a good idea to monitor if you’re doing a good job at taking care of it don’t ya think?

As a little bonus, Beets Blu also sent me a PagerTag. This device is designed to help keep track of your valuables like your phone or keys. It’s a simple cool little device that uses an app to keep track of your stuff. And while I’ve never been one to lose my keys on a regular basis, I think this is a great gift idea for that person who does!

pagerteg

The heart rate monitor and Pagertag can be purchased on Amazon. Happy shopping!

Have you tried the Beets Blu heart rate monitor or PagerTag?

**I received the Beets Blu Heart Rate Monitor and PagerTag free of charge in exchange for a review. I was not compensated for this blog post, and all opinions are my own.**
